Nakia Needs Our Help
Hi,
My name is Nakia Relefourd. I am 39 years old and I was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's, disease on September 23, 2023. My health started rapidly declining about a year ago and it was hard getting an answer of what was going on. This is something I wasn't ready for, I'm sure nobody ever is.
Living with a terminal diagnoses can have you struggling to find a peace of mind, especially feeling the financial burden it can place on your household. It feels like everything that you have is to spend on medical bills and equipment, and a lot of my time is spent at doctors and getting new gadgets and it seems every day we have to add something to our home for me to just be able to get around.
I know the reality of this disease, but I still want to enjoy my days with my family and continue making memories. I enjoy life, singing, dancing, laughing , joking and spending time with loved ones. Oh and wings, I love buffalo wings, gotta figure out a way to continue to hold them in my hand! Although my days consist of short hours where I can function, I do the best with the time I do have.
All donations are greatly appreciated. Funds raised will be going toward the medical costs associated with my ALS. Right now, the priority is for me to get a power wheelchair. In order to do that, we must make a deposit of several thousand dollars.
